Position of Clerk for Keresley Parish Council

 

 

Keresley Parish Council is a modern, young and vibrant Council, with a strong team of Councillors who are looking to increase the awareness of the Council and unite the existing and new community as the Sustainable Urban Extension progresses. The Parish Council now has strong ties and enjoys good support from Coventry City Council. The team has laid the foundations to ensure the Council can now grow its influence and connections within the Parish and is looking for someone to join them at this exciting time.

 

We are seeking to appoint a Parish Clerk. The Clerk will be responsible for managing the day-to-day business of the Parish Council, including the production of the Agenda and Minutes for all Council meetings, liaising with Coventry City Council, other local Parish Councils and implementing Council decisions and actions arising. This position is home-based and occasional attendance at evening/weekend meetings will be required. The Clerk will also be the Responsible Financial Officer and responsible for the careful administration of its finances. The successful applicant will have excellent communication, finance, and organisational skills, alongside a high level of IT experience. The post is part-time currently for 10 hours per week (with a potential increase in the future) working from home, with compulsory attendance at our monthly Parish Council meetings, and any additional meetings as required. The postholder will also be required to attend the monthly WALC meetings (currently virtual). The salary will be pro-rata for part-time working and based on experience and qualifications. NJC Scale LC1 or 2 scale points 5 to 21 (£10.04 to £13.74 per hour)

 

The successful applicant will also be required to complete a DBS check before starting the role.

 

Ideally, you will hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) or be willing to achieve this qualification within 12 months of commencing employment. This training would be Parish Council sponsored. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate experience as a parish clerk, however, the Council would be willing to consider someone with strong administration and numerical skills.
