Keresley Archaeology

This photo (from Allan Owens) shows the impression of a medieval moated site in Fivefield Road inside the bend before it goes up the hill to the Tamworth Road. The site has been filled in since this was taken but it is widely believed that the Archaeology remains intact.
The photo may have been taken by the RAF during the war.
This photo shows the trace of a structure near Penny Park Lane. This coincides with what is marked on a late medieval map as 'Keresley Berwe', meaning Keresley Castle. In fact it was probably some other Saxon building
